It is with tremendous pride and great pleasure that I announce the addition of my son, Dr. Justin J. Fazio, to our team of dedicated professionals, starting August 1, 2023. Dr. Justin Fazio brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience in the field of Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery, with special training and passion for melanoma treatment. Following his education at Jesuit High School in Sacramento and his graduation from St. Mary’s College, where he played Division I baseball, Justin pursued his medical degree at Creighton University School of Medicine. He successfully completed his internship and residency training in dermatology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he excelled as the chief resident in 2021.
Recently, Dr. Justin Fazio completed an esteemed fellowship in Mohs micrographic and reconstructive surgery, sanctioned by the American College of Mohs Surgery. Under the guidance of renowned experts, Dr. John Zitelli and Dr. David Brodland, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Justin further honed his skills and expertise in this specialized field. It is fascinating to note that I had the privilege of completing my fellowship training with Dr. John Zitelli back in 1990, and now, my son has followed in my footsteps, benefiting from the same exceptional mentorship. Dr. Zitelli was one of the original fellows personally trained by Dr. Frederic Mohs at the University of Wisconsin, and in addition to Mohs, Dr. Zitelli has pioneered melanoma treatment and plastic reconstructive surgery. Our shared connection with Dr. Zitelli reinforces our commitment to providing the highest standard of care and expertise in Mohs surgery.
Furthermore, I am pleased to introduce Dr. Justin Fazio’s wife, Rachel Fazio, who is an accomplished emergency room physician. Rachel will be joining Sutter Hospital and contributing her invaluable skills to the medical community in Sacramento. Beyond their professional accomplishments, Justin and Rachel are proud parents of three wonderful children, Jack, Poppy, and Mikey. Family is at the core of Justin’s life, and he cherishes spending quality time with his loved ones. Additionally, he finds joy in playing golf and strumming the guitar in his leisure time.
With the addition of Dr. Justin Fazio to our team, we aim to enhance our ability to provide comprehensive and compassionate care to our patients. With the ability to increase our surgery appointments, we look forward to reducing patient wait times for treatment of their skin cancers. We believe that Justin's exceptional skills, dedication, and shared values will greatly contribute to the continued success of the Fazio Skin Cancer Center.
